Week 2 Win vs Detroit Overview

Overview: With the Cardinals winning a close game against the Detroit Lions, Cardinals fans must be pretty excited of what is to come.  Patrick Peterson did not quite live up to the expectations that Coach Bruce Arians placed upon him, stating that, "Patrick Peterson is the best corner in the game." With 6 receptions for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns, Calvin Johnson proved that he is not easy to cover, just ask Patrick Peterson!

Offense:
With Larry Fitzgerald leaving the game due to a lingering hamstring injury, the rest of the Cards receiving arsenal had to pick up the slack. Leading the Cardinals in receptions was surprisingly Jim Dray (Tight End #81). Dray had 5 receptions for 31 yards, the longest catch being 14 yards.  Kerry Taylor, Andre Roberts, and Rashard Mendenhall also contributed. Backup running back Andre Ellington had the only receiving touchdown of the day. With Fitz out, Michael Floyd was expected to take a bulk of the receptions, but he ultimately fell short of expectations with only 3 catches for 22 yards. Carson Palmer had a very average game, 22 for 39 passing, with 248 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He showed great composure at the end of the game, especially the late fourth quarter. Patrick Peterson, yes, Patrick Peterson the corner back also threw the ball well! 1 for 1 for a 17 yard completion. Peterson may not have contributed greatly to the offense, but it is a sign of things to come for the 'wildcat' in the future.

With an average rushing game by Rashard Mendenhall, Cardinals fans must be content at the very least. 15 attempts for 66 yards and a touchdown is certainly better than what the Cardinals are used to putting up over the past few years.

Defensive Stats:
Defense/Special Teams:
As I already touched on in the overview, Patrick Peterson did not live up to the hype of being the best corner in the game, but it obviously could have been worse. Holding Megatron to only 6 receptions is not an easy task! There were a few long receptions for Calvin that really padded his stats, and I don't mind that as long as the Cardinals win! (I got Megatron on my fantasy team). Karlos Dansby lead the team in tackles with 8, followed by Tyrann Mathieu and Rashard Johnson with 6 a piece. There were no interceptions, but strong performances by Patrick Peterson , Calais Campbell, and Darnell Dockett helped the defense immensely.  John Abraham also had himself a decent game.  He is very disappointed with his new role on the team, so he has a lot to prove if he ever wants to make the impact he once has. Jay Feely had a nice game kicking, going 4 for 4 with a long of 47.
